Anahita Azrahimico-Founder | Producer
Anahita Azrahimi is the co-Founder, Producer and Tour Director of Sparrow in the Room, an artist collective she co-founded with Artistic Directors, Robert Morgan and Edith Tankus.
In her young yet rich 5-year Arts career, Anahita has worked with some very exciting arts organizations. Most recently she was with Dancemakers, one of Toronto’s leading contemporary dance companies as Marketing and Development Manager. Prior to that she was Development Assistant on the Working Capital for the Arts campaign of Creative Trust for Arts & Culture.
Childrens’ Peace Theatre offered Anahita her first taste of arts administration as the General Manager where she supported the vision of founding Artistic Director Robert Morgan and helped it to flourish. She envisioned and created the first Children’s Peace Parade of Toronto, which has since become an annual event.
Before coming to Canada she was a highly sought-after ESL teacher in Iran for ten years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She also holds the Microsoft Certified Solution Developer certificate (MCSD) that enabled her to work in the IT field as a database developer and programming instructor. Her constant soul-searching and passion for involvement in the arts brought her to Canada to pursue a second bachelor degree in Arts Management at the University of Toronto.
Anahita is an active volunteer in the arts community. She is a board member of Modern Times Theatre Company and sits on the steering committee of Cultural Pluralism in the Performing Arts Movement Ontario , a project led by University of Toronto, CCI and some of Toronto’s major arts organizations.
