Toronto, Ontario…
Sparrow in the Room Collective is launching its First Flight Project on October 5, 2008. The collective will tour to Iran, Thailand, Nepal and Pakistan where Artistic co- Director, Robert Morgan (Founding Artistic Director of the Children’s Peace Theatre) will be performing the award-winning Morgan's Journey, Canada’s longest-running touring play for children, adults and elders. The Collective will be speaking and presenting Conflict Evolution workshops at International Theatre Festivals and begin the first phase of an international, theatrical collaboration with companies from each of the countries they visit.
Sparrow in the Room is looking to become more deeply embedded in an international movement working towards the establishment of a worldwide culture of peace through the arts. The international collaborative creation of the new play will be based on the Collective’s desire to draw upon the commonality of human experience. By conducting Conflict Evolution workshops in each country, Sparrow will promote Canadian values of peace-building, conflict evolution and inter-cultural harmony.
Sparrow in the Room is a collective of artists founded by artists/producers, Robert Morgan, Edith Tankus and Anahita Azrahimi who have been drawn together by their shared passion to create excellent theatre.
Sparrow’s mandate is to create performances that reflect the human experience in all its complexity with honesty, compassion and humour.
The First Flight Project has been made possible by the generous support of Canada Council for the Arts and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
